Glossary Item Box
Management fees provide a way for the parents (general partners) to receive an income from the family business even though they technically no longer own the business. They receive management fees for managing the partnership. To do this, the parents make provisions in the Family Limited Partnership.
The fees can be a fixed dollar amount, a fixed percentage of the income, or both. Fees must also reflect the actual fair market value for the services the partners provide.
